Just a question out of curiousity. How much interest is there among fellow IDER's in learning how to refinish a gunstock. A do it yourself type project if I provided some type of documentation on how I typically will refinish a gunstock from start to finish. How many of you might be interested in this?

Sounds like a fun project. I have 2 old mud guns that arent worth much and perfect for practice.

I am currently in the process of making a gun stock for a double barrel from scratch, but would love some additional information on the finishes, especially anything related to the "knurled" (don't know the right word) carvings that accent it on the sides. I would love more info, or someone to talk to to get some good tips.
I am always trying stuff like that. The wife says that I have ADD Any other interest, or a place to ask questions would be right up my alley.

That would make a great archive article for IDA. I have an old double barrel muzelloader shotgun kit that never has been finished.

Corey,
I can install a aftermarket trigger, but if someone wants existing factory trigger reworked then I send them to the "Gun Doc" Jim Kobe out of Bloomington. I can also write up someone on glass bedding. However I would suggest you do your first glass bedding job on a Cheap Marlin 22 with a Birch stock

Corey,
Basically I was saying do your first bed job on a cheap gun with a cheap stock that way if disaster happens you can learn by your mistake on a cheapie and not some heirloom. Ya know?

Waller...Alvin's working on glass bedding his River Pro right now....
What he's saying is...for your first bedding job, use a real cheap ($$) gun with a very soft stock.
Typicly, they don't turn out well the first time around.
(sorry mack! )
