We've only got 6 weeks to the walleye opener so we've begun to think about fishing lakes and adding in some walleye gear. We've had a large number of requests for hand-tied spinner rigs over the last couple years. And since we tend to listen to our customers, here they are!
Available in a single hook or 3-hook harness, these rigs are constructed from the following components:
#4 Colorado blades painted with incredible attention to detail and natural baitfish appearance to imitate forage. All painted blades glow to attract perch and walleyes during low-light periods or in murky waters.
Hooks are red Premium Quality VMC. The first hook in the harnesses and on the single hook rigs is a #4. The 2nd and 3rd hooks on the harnesses are #6.
All rigs are tied on Triple-Fish flourocarbon monofilament to elminate spooking of line-shy fish in clear or heavily pressured waters.
Rig length is 42".
Available in 6 patterns. To check them out on-line, click the link provided here >>> B FISH N Tackle Co. - Hand-Tied Spinner Rigs

A "Pro Series" has been discussed with Dave. Leaders would be 6 - 8 feet and would be targeted at Mille Lacs Lake anglers or other anglers fishing bodies of water with exceptionally clear water where the long leaders improve catches dramatically. If he hears from more than a couple guys I'm sure he can be convinced to carry spinners with longer leaders as a stock product.

I had a chance to view these last night at the show. Koonce / James I would be very interested in seeing a longer leader. I plan on dabbling with some spiiners this year on Mille Lacs . These things do look sweet .

They look awesome and would work great for our customers that don't tie their own. A longer leader would be necessary for Lake Winnie. We might be interested in quantities if we could get the longer leaders.

So how long is long enough guys? The 42" leader lengths have sold well so far but I'm open to adding a second length.
A couple guys have emailed me to tell me "why bother" with the longer leaders since you can splice in additional leader material to suit your needs. Is this practical? It would seem to be a super easy fix to me. Let me know guys. I'm always interested in providing the products the way everyone wants them.

I'm guessing something around 72" to 96" would work. Maybe split it and go 84"

Maybe make 96" standard and customers can cut down to the desired length if shorter is needed/wanted. I think the cost would be minimal.

My personal preference for a spinner rig would be 72" max. People can always shorten them.
Pulling spinners/bottom bouncers on LOTW, 42" is perfect.
Mille lacs or the river may want a 6' spinner rig with a bell sinker though........That is what I have mine tied at.....

I would also agree that 72" would work, But to make them 96 and cut them down makes sense too.

I think Dave decided against it. I had some 96" length samples... unwinding them is an absolute disaster waiting to happen. My advice is to lengthen the 48's to any length you desire.

I would try this, on my fly fishing leaders you can tie a surgens knot on each piece of line, feed one loop thru the other and this allows you to add different lengths of leader or sinking line to suit your needs. Should work the same for walleye rigs, you could have pre-tied sections of 2-3-4-5 feet and just slip them in as needed without having to retie all the time.

I just talked to Chris Tuckner... he took 3rd place on mille lacs this weekend fishing the MTT. Caught ALL of his fish on these 42" spinner rigs... so apparently the longer leaders aren't always the answer. Perch was the hot color apparently.
Hopefully we can get Chris to tell the story of the $3000 - 15 inch walleye they threw back intentionally on Saturday.
