My father and 7 of his buddies go to the Boundry Waters each winter for a week of winter camping. He called me on his way home last week and said he found a moose shed..They hiked back about 7.8 miles to get to a trout lake they camp at...He said the snow was about 2.5 to 3ft deep and tough goin..well about half way in to camp he was 5th in line..they take turns being lead as its tough bustin through the snow.. he saw about 4 inches of the antler stickin through the snow and after everyone else passed it up he stopped to look at it...it turned out to be a shed..He thought about leavin it as the extra 5 lbs or so makes a difference hikin in the snow... the shed made it home and its in great shape and I was supprised how dark it was still..pretty neat find for him...Jay

A buddy of mine found a moose shed a couple of years ago. Here's the wierd thing, he found it while he was looking at some land to buy down by the Weaver Bottoms. I had a natrualist friend of mine look at it. He thought it could be one of two things. Either it was a really, really old shed or a moose got out of a pen some where. No moose on record in Southern MN for 500 years or so. Neat find though.

Prieser, about 8 years ago they spotted a moose in southern Iowa, yep southern Iowa. The local township papers kept track of whos farm it was on each issue. Also about 20 years ago a guy shot a moose over around the Des Moines area and that hit the papers. The dnr confiscated it and the hide, the young guy took it too court and won. The judge said because they weren't a protected spieces that it was to be returned, I guess the guy got it back and now mooose are a protected spieces here in iowa. Theres also been reports in N.E Iowa over the years of bears coming down from Minnesota so I can see moose doing it too.
