I need some ideas here. I no longer have a flat bottom and I want to use my Lund Explorer 1675 for duck hunting. It's black/gray with tan carpeting. It's got a 90" beam and gets into pretty shallow water for this kind of boat.
I need some blind material and at this point I don't want to invest big bucks in a fancy frame system.
Any suggestions?

I just did a search for some plans that I used a few years back but no luck. The frame was made out of 1 1/2" PVC with 3/8" plywood screwed to the outside. Then it was painted camo and had either black bungies or netting to add hay or other material. It lasted me about 2 years but then started to crack & break. I'm in the process of trying to find the same type of connectors for electrical conduit that they have for PVC. I may have to build it in sections & bolt it together. Overall the blind worked great. I hopes this helps.

Do you plan to hunt from inside the boat? If not, I just bought a piece of burlap and used it to cover the boat and then hunted from land.
If you plan to hunt from the boat, you can use fiberglass rods used for camping. I have a set that I used to use that I bent in a U shape. I used 4 for my boat. Then I bought material at Gander and weaved the rods through the material.
Another really good source for blind material is R&M Military in DeSoto. They are open Thursday-Sunday I beleive. They have large pieces of different camo that is excellent to cover a boat with. You can also add real grass from the marsh to blend in as well. There are many different ideas on how to camo a boat in and hopefully others will chime in here for other ideas

if you are looking for a blind check out beavertail. I just got one for my 16ft and it is so easy to use. It will fit your boat no prob and it is easy to take off in the off season.

MuskieBob, thanks! Maybe I could do something with 1" PVC pipes and elbows. Hmmmm....
AM, I'd rather park the boat and get hunt fom land. I suppose it depends on the spot. Probably should be ready for either. I like the tent pole idea and I have some of those shock-corded poles around here somewhere.
I've always mostly walked into the bottoms. Always a pretty good hike to get to the good spots, hauling decoys, etc., and now gettn' older, the thought of taking the boat to the shooting areas is starting to look better.

I think if I could just cover the boat good for now I'd be OK. I've been concentrating on upland birds so much that now with the price of gas I'd like to stay around here more and hunt ducks. Got to figure all of this boat stuff out though.

they have a website and Cabelas is carrying the line as well I think. I know that the company is based out of MN somehwere. There is only one downside to the blind that I can think of. I am not sure how it will be in late season with the colder wind. I am not too worried though.

That is pretty much how we hunted, park and walk. When we did that, we just used burlap and then threw some grass on top of that and called it good. When I hunted from the boat I used the tent pole blind and it worked good also. The shock corded poles are the ones I used. They work good, but not as good as a commercially made blind. I was cheap and wanted a DIY type blind

I will be going through a few boxes in storage this week & if I run across any pic's of the blind before I added the wood I will let you know so you can get me an address to e-mail them to. After I seen a pic I found it easy to make. I think the cost of the frame was about $25. It took me about 2 hours make.

Can't blame you Kwik. I was out scouting this morning and got to thinking. "If my work car didn't have such high millage I would go buy a new boat this week...." I hate being responsible some times!

all we got for our blind (that is homemade) was i went to wal-mart and bought just enought burlap to cover a 16ft flatbottom all the way around and bought 2 tarps that was 20 long and we put the burlap on the tarp which was used as wind blockers and fastened it to our blind then we had cut about 12 10-16 cane poles and put on the bottoms (for weight to hold it down, and helps when rollin it up)and ziptied it all down... hope any of this helps... could send ya some pics if ya like...
