Snow's?
#609969 - 11/16/08 12:47 AM

I was in the woods in the lakeville area today and about 5:10/5:15 I hear alot of really high piched loud honking way off in the distance and when I got closer to the road I see 2 flocks of snow's and there is about 250-300 birds in each flock! I could not believe that the birds would come though this area{They were flying really high}. That is the most snow's that i have seen in minnesota ever, it was really cool.

Every year I see or hear a flock going through this area. We usually see 1-2 posts here of someone that has bagged a snow or blue in this flyway.

Last night I did not hear snows, but swans. I've also heard some sandhills going through.

Cool sighting!

Whistler swans are moving through right now. They are often mistaken for snows. Snows have black tips to the wings, and are often in the company of blues. Whistlers are much larger, and usually travel straight through without landing. The do have a high pitched cackle, almost like a snow.

I slept on the porch last night and heard a flock of I think snows going through. There was quit a few of them and they had a high pitched honk much higher then a Canadian. We have an amber flood light in the park two houses away and it was foggy out and I think they came in because of the light, they were right over the tree tops and went south.
