With deer season fast approaching and the geese flying, I figured I would take the first good bird I could get close to. We put a good flock to bed last night, and at first light this morning I clucked them out into the corn. This huge hen made me, and scattered the rest of the birds. I can see how folks get hooked on this!!!!

She was the old queen of the flock. She was bigger than the jakes and other hens by a long shot. What I really enjoyed was putting them to bed last night, and knowing exactly where they would be in the AM. The talking them into the field was a blast.

I did the Spring hunt once and almost got shot by a guy hunting public land near Wabasha. This land I have now is safe, and lots of birds so I think I will try the Spring again now.

I have seen these birds all Spring and Summer. I am seriously thinking of going at them with the crossbow next Fall.
