A buck that I had an opportunity at last week was killed this week. Only problem was it was illegal. Don't have alot of details now but the deer may have had an inside spread of 24 inches. I knew it was big when I missed it but am looking forward to seeing the pictures now and am glad they got caught.

oh man.... sorry to hear that it was one you've been watching, but it's great to hear that they got caught. I hope they get penalized to the max.

Rumor is and rumors are certainly going around about this but they will still get to gun hunt this weekend!!! There may not be enough evidence against them even though they got the gun and animal taken away. I can't believe it!

hmm, I wonder if he was seen by somebody, or if the DNR has a way to find out what happened. My uncles always tell me its radar technology that helps them tract these poachers down. I wander if its true.

Poacher
One of the key words in the articale is RIFLE.Not only is it a shotgun only zone, But the gun season is'nt even open yet! Nice sportsmanship! My opinion is that he should not be allowed to hunt! EVER!!!!

Best that will happen is a fine and loss of priveledges for 5yrs.
A not so funny thing is in my area stuff like that is legal even after dark. As long as you are a member of the local native american tribe. Then you can spotlight them and blast them even on private property. This doesn't get the attention as much as the whole spearing issue, but is another problem we face.

My cousin's have the same issue in SD. Much of their land borders the reservation. Nothing they can do about the spotlight and "poaching" by the native american neighbors to the south. They also run a ridiculously long rifle season just to be sure to erradicate any good deer in the area. QDM is not an option for that area. They try, but rarely do they see a 3.5 yr old dear.

What a winner. I'm not so against doing it on your own land from a field road or something, but to take someone else's deer like that is just wrong.
