What type of Snow Camo Pattern????
by Rob Stenger
|
Naked North Snow Stirkes Again! It is getting to be that time of year where I look to change a few things in my hunting arsenal. One of those things is my camo pattern. With December looming around the corner and the threat of snow in the forecasts, it is time to get out my Winter snow camo, get it washed, and ready for my late season hunts. The topic of the best snow camo often comes up about this time of year. So, I thought I would head it off at the pass and give a review on the snow camo pattern that I have been putting to the test the last 3-4 years with tremendous results.
Come late season my styles of hunting may change from my more traditional passive early and mid season style of blind and tree stand hunting. To a more of an aggressive approach that often includes still hunting, deer pushes or stalks on the ground. I need a camo pattern that can adapt to all my hunting situations and locations. I might be in a tree stand during December in MN. I might be on the ground in the river bottom brush in ND. I might be still hunting on the ground in some CRP. I might be out stalking in the open hill country of the Dakotas. These situations and locations may vary from hunt to hunt (weekend to weekend) or from hour to hour depending on my hunt. I need a snow camo pattern that will adapt to these ever changing conditions and conceal me in any hunting situation I may face. As you can see, I hunt in many different terrains across the Mid West and the one pattern I have found work extremely well in all of those conditions is, Gamehide’s Naked North Snow Camo pattern.
Naked North & Naked North Snow Patterns I have experienced being within 10 yards of numeorus deer in both, the wide open kneeling and on the ground in some cover with this pattern on. In ND, I have even had a deer walk up and try to walk through me as she nocked my arrow off my rest, causing me and her to jump while kneeling on the ground in a shelter belt. In none of those cases did the deer see me or what I was. Talk about a heart pounding encounters, WOW. I can not believe how close I have gotten to deer on numerous occasions while wearing this camo pattern. Here is a little technical information about Gamehide’s Naked North and Naked North Snow Patterns;
Quote:
This hot new pattern is designed for hunters who hunt in the North! It's made up of popple, pine, birch and oak, and various types of brush common to the North. And, there are no leaves-thus, the "Naked". The pattern has no added black, so it won't look too dark when you are not standing next to a tree trunk. Naked® North™ was designed using DepthTech™, a state-of-the-art depth-enhancing technique that allows the pattern to maintain its dimensional depth long after other patterns have flattened out.
Gamehide's Naked North Snow Pattern Up Close I find that my camo pattern choice is even more crucial in these late season hunts as the leaves have fallen, most of the ground cover has died off and things are way more open then before. To top it off, these animals have survived the Fall and are a bit wiser and on high alert adding to challenge of staying concealed. If it is the open country, hills, or CRP fields of the Dakotas or the hardwoods & river bottoms of MN & WI, in a tree, or on the ground. I count on Naked North Snow to keep me concealed whenever there is snow on the ground.
I truly believe that Naked North Snow is the best snow camo pattern out on the market today and is not only great in all deer hunting conditions but all hunting sports. If you are a late season archer, muzzle loader, rifle hunter, predator hunter, or goose hunter this is the pattern you need to check out. If you have any questions or comments about this camo pattern or where to buy it, feel free to ask them here, shoot me an email or PM. If I can not answer your question(s), I will get someone that will. Lastly, you can go to www.gamehide.com to see what they offer in the Naked North Snow Camo.
Good luck this late season and remember to stay concealed, go Naked!

Very informative Rob. I have chased deer in December for many years. Some of the best bowhunting in the midwest occurs during the late rut, around Dec 10-15...There are fewer does that still are unbred and come in heat. The bucks can really get competitive! The cold calm mornings amplify the need for stealth and the snow cover adds reflectivity to the brightness allowing the deer to see with an even keener eye. They are usually more wary after early bow and firearm seasons has put them on high alert. I am pleased with my Naked North Gamehide pattern and am hoping that there with be some 3X offerings in Naked North Snow for us "generously" built hunters!

Guys this deal is too sweet not to take advantage of and just in time for the Late & Predator seasons. Perhaps as XMAS present for someone like me.
Gamehide has their Ambush Pant and Top on Sale for $19.00 each in their Naked North Snow Pattern.
The Ambush Line is just light cover ups that you would throw over your normal camo for snow conditions. Chris Tuckner also has these I know and loves them.
CLICK HERE to view their Holiday Special page and scroll down to see the Ambush Pant & Top.

Rob, if a guy were to order the Ambush Line, would you suggest getting a size larger than normal. I wear a XL jacket so would I go with a XXL?

Mike, that is what I did. The Ambush is just thin layer to go ever your normal camo. Usually when I'm wearing this it is pretty cold, so I'm layered up pretty good. Instead of the Large I usually wear, I wear an XL in the Ambush Top. Instead of the medium I usually wear, I wear a Large on the bottoms. However, Gamehide does cut their stuff generously. So if you are a small XL and XL might just fit perfect.
