On Monday, Jan 11th @ 12pm, Schaffer Performance Archery will be changing the direction of arrow rests as we know it in the archery industry and they will be officially releasing their brand new arrow rest. I just got off the phone with John Schaffer (owner) and it sounds pretty amazing! Schaffer will be launching a streaming video off of their website that shows you why everyone is so excited. All you need to do is click the Schaffer banner ad on the left hand side of this page and tune in on Monday!
Am I missing something, or does it only show the time from the arrow is at full draw to firing? I would like to see how this set-up works from start to finish. How does the arrow sit, when not at full draw? What about letting up, and redrawing? Interesting concept, can't wait to see the entire range of motions.

Les, I'm not a marketing guy but I bet you they do that to peek your interest and make you come in and check it out in person. A lot easier to sell you on something when they can answer questions in person!
The arrow can sit on the open rest (pictured at the end of the video) and as you draw back, the rest comes together, pushing the arrow up into a shooting position (the start of the video).
The rest can also be locked into the shooting position (like the start of the video) and then you just draw back. This is how I will use it in a hunting scenario (plus the arrow will not fall out of your rest unless you completely turn your bow upside down). You can also lock the rest into the shooting position and then place your arrow on the rest too.

You are probably right Rob.
Brad thanks for the info. These should be interesting.

Very cool Any idea how stiff of an arrow they were using in the shot ??? I see very little to no flex, in the shaft.... typically, in the past, I have seen flexing in the arrow at release... also, any idea as to poundage being pulled ??? I know weird questions, that you may or may not know the answers to, but it is definitely breaking away from the traditional rests offered for years. I could see alot of application for this in my hunting

Any question is a good question (even from you Big G )! I spoke with John today and found out that he's currently at the ATA show this week introducing this new rest to his dealers. So if you have questions, John encourages you to call or visit your local dealer next week (after they've had a chance to see it at the ATA Show). Here's a Schaffer dealer locater link:
Looks sweet..I would like to see one, I wonder how they will be in the snow and cold?
